Giggie,Vaughn
Vaughn Vandine Giggie, 94, went to his eternal home on Friday, June 26, 2026. He was a long-time resident of Elliot Lake and recently resided in Timmins, ON.
He was born December 8,1931 in Bristol, New Brunswick, to Lemuel and Melissa (Vandine) Giggie, and was the youngest of 8 children.
He married the love of his life, Marion Stewart on September 17, 1954.
Mr. Giggie moved to Elliot Lake in 1967 and was the head of the geography department at ELSS until he retired in 1989. His students often spoke about how much he cared for them and would work to help any who needed it.
Vaughn was also a valued member of First Baptist Church, Elliot Lake where he often taught Sunday School, served as a deacon, and filled in as a preacher when needed. He was a faithful Gideon where his greatest joy was handing out Bibles.
Upon retirement, he and Marion traveled extensively across Canada and the United States as well as enjoying many trips abroad to Europe and Australia.
When at home, he enjoyed working in his garden and helping in the church. Every fall he would hunt partridge, deer, and moose - often with Marion at his side.
He was an avid reader and a passionate puzzle enthusiast. He especially enjoyed spending time with family and friends and provided many fond memories for his children and grandchildren.
