Shirley Anne (Santikko) Lawrence

We are deeply saddened to announce the sudden passing of our mother and grandmother, Shirley Anne Lawrence (nee Santikko). Shirley was unexpectedly taken from us at the age of 61 at the Espanola Regional Hospital. Shirley was predeceased by her mother Angeline “Jiggs” Santikko, her father Walter Santikko, her brothers Danny Riel and Jerry Riel and the love of her life, husband David Eric Lawrence who she loved and missed tremendously. Shirley will be forever missed and remembered by her children Danielle (Mason), David William (Heather), Dustin (Alyssa) and Darcy (Dana). Shirley was adored by her 11 beautiful grandchildren: Colton, Brooklynn, Niibin, Desmond, Nolan, Nora, Davie, Willow, Arlo, Ipeelie and Ojiig. Shirley is lovingly remembered by her sisters Pat (Derek) Smith and Mardi (Micky) MacDonald and her many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Shirley was a quiet force who faithfully served her Jesus with diligence and dedication, serving others gently and tirelessly behind the scenes. Shirley was steadfast and extremely devoted to her kids and her grandkids. She was always ready with a warm hug for her grandkids, a hot meal, and an easy smile. She poured herself into her family and was always there with a helping hand, a thoughtfully chosen gift and an effortless and contagious laugh. She was an incredible cook and baker and often showed her love and care using these skills.

Shirley also desperately missed her best friend and husband and has now been reunited with him in glory. Shirley was an incredible wife, mother and grandmother and her loss has left a huge hole in our hearts and family.

We thank everyone for their prayers, visits, meals, messages and support over these last few days.

There will be a family visitation held from 5:30-6:00 on Sunday July 27th, 2025 at the Spanish Four Seasons Waterfront Complex followed by a public visitation from 6:00-8:00 pm. The funeral will be held the following day on Monday July 28th, 2025 at 11:00 am. Cremation to follow.
