Shirley Brown Obituary

Brown, Shirley Bernice March 6, 1930 – June 24, 2026

Saying Goodbye is always hard to do – But hey, at 96 years young, it wasn’t bad at all.

A Long time pioneer of the community, Shirley Bernice Brown said goodbye on June 24, 2026 at St. Joseph’s General Hospital in Elliot Lake. Shirley was surrounded by Lots of Love, Friendship and Family.

She was known for her style and humour (dirty or clean jokes). Shirley had a memory you wouldn’t believe, Past or Present, better than a Jeopardy contestant. The relatives on the island would say call Aunt Shirley, she would know! Shirley loved to bake infamous brownies, trying out new recipes, finding so many from her late grandmother, imagine!!

She was a past Matron for 60 years of the Eastern Star and a dedicated member of St. Peter’s Anglican Church. Shirley loved getting glammed up, hair done by Barb, nails by Jody. Social was her great passion with lots of conversations had.

Predeceased by her Loving husband Conrad (Red) Brown, late son Jerry Brown, late daughter-in-law Debbie Croteau-Brown and late brother Ernest (Spud) Spry. Loving mother to Larry Brown (Karen) of Elliot Lake and Barry Brown (Monique) of Ottawa. Beloved grandmother to Justin (Jenn) of Kitchener, Jeremy (Marissa) of Waterloo, Ryan and Eric, both of Ottawa. Known as “GG” to her precious treasures, Brooks, Brynn and Jaxon.

Many thanks to Sandra and Chelsea of March of Dimes, for the dedicated support and care provided to Shirley and to Dr. Bouchard and Dr. Stirrett, we, “The Brown Family” cannot say enough for your support, friendship and professionalism, Thank You. Also, thank you Rev. Armstrong for your kind words and prayers during Shirley’s last days.

To Shirley’s Angels, Barb, Joyce, Eddie, Barb Lees, Nancy, Joni, Ralph, Brenda, Jody, Bucky and Pat, each one of you impacted Shirley’s life and will never be forgotten.

Shirley has requested no Church service or Eastern Star service. A Simple gathering in Little Current will take place at a later date.

Memorial Donations to St. Joseph’s Foundation of Elliot Lake or to St. Peter’s Anglican Church would be appreciated by the family.

Special thanks to Josianne Régis from the Elliot Lake Funeral Chapel & Cremation Centre for your caring ways and Professionalism.
