CAYEN, PAUL (HENRI), age 76 of Elliot Lake, passed away Tuesday Sept 21, 2021. Paul is survived by his devoted wife of 53 years, Sylvia, son Paul (Wife Tracey) of North Bay, his daughter Michelle (partner Tim Leddy) of Elliot Lake, granddaughter Jade and grandson Brent. He is predeceased by his parents Alezia (Bedard) and Arthur Cayen, sisters Jeanine and Gertrude and brothers Gaston, Jacques and Guy and survived by his sisters Marie-Therese (Guy) of Ottawa and Nicole (Erak) of Calgary.
An employee of Denison Mines until its closure in 1992, Paul went on to a career in Environmental Engineering. He maintained the Water Treatment in Blind River and later accepted employment with the City of Guelph but always called Elliot Lake his home. He returned in 2008 to live out his retirement dream, camping, fishing and enjoying family life and socializing with his many long-time friends. He totally loved Beanbag Baseball at the Renaissance Centre and certainly put a lot of energy into having fun and making new friends.
The family will receive friends and family at Dunlop Lodge in Elliot Lake between the hours of 11:00AM and 1:00PM on Sunday Sept 26th. Covid 19 protocols will be in effect including limited capacity and proof of COVID vaccination.
The family wishes to thank Dr. Andrew Purzner and the nursing staff at the St. Joseph's General Hospital in Elliot Lake for the exceptional level of care provided.
Donations in Paul's memory may be made to the Lymphoma Research Foundation (www.lymphoma.ca).
