It is with sadness that the family announces the peaceful passing of a loving husband, father and grandfather on Saturday July 15, 2023 in Elliot Lake, Ontario at the age of 70 years. Pre-deceased by his parents Thomas and Mary Murphy (nee O'Neil), Mike is survived by wife Diane Murphy (nee Desjardins), children Steven Murphy (Heidi), Maryanne Murphy-Johnson (Cory) and grandchildren Claire, Emily, Olivia, Zoey & Colton. Brother of the late Patrick "Paddy" Murphy (Jane), Susan Stewart (Thomas "Tom") and uncle to numerous nieces, nephews, cousins & dear friends. Mike will also be missed by his devoted fur baby Maggie. Cremation has taken place and a graveside committal service will be held at Woodlands Cemetery, Elliot Lake on Saturday August 19, 2023 at 1pm, followed by a Celebration of Life at the Hampton Inn (Maple Room). Memorial contributions to the St. Joseph's Foundation of Elliot Lake (Oncology Renovation Project) would be greatly appreciated by the family.
The family would like to extends special thanks to Dr. Timothy DeBortoli, Dr. Michael Stirling, nursing staff at St. Joseph's General Hospital, Bayshore nurses as well as Dr. Geordie Linford of the North East Cancer Centre for the care & compassion provided to Mike in the last few years.
