Maxine Pearl Salo (nee Colquhoun) Obituary

Maxine Pearl Salo (nee Colquhoun)
October 22, 1937 - May 7, 2023

Maxine was born to the late Helena (nee Dallaire) and Roy Colquhoun of Schumacher. She was married to Aimo Salo (deceased in 2016) in 1959 and spent her many happily married years in Elliot Lake, Timmins and Matagami, Quebec. Maxine is survived by her daughter Eileen and spouse Paul Leishman of Orillia, her son Bruce, Debora, Eric and Nathan of Windsor. She is predeceased by her brother Roy Colquhoun (2013) and is survived by her sister Sandra and husband John Elliott of Alberta, their children, as well as her life-long friend Faith Checkel also of Alberta.
Maxine enjoyed life to it's fullest and was a very thoughtful person. Maxine was a camp councellor as a young woman and continued to enjoy the outdoors throughout her life. If you ever saw Maxine she always had her nails polished and was wearing pink lipstick. During her years in Matagami she was an enthusiastic member of the Curling Club and was passionate about teaching Kindergarden. Maxine derived pleasure in travelling to Finland, Mexico, Cuba, and numerous countries in Europe with her beloved husband Moe. Maxine was elated to spend her summers at the cottage on Grainery Lake and winters in Florida and Portugal.
Cremation has taken place and as per Maxine's request no service will be held. As an expression of sympathy, memorial donations to Diabetes Canada or a charity of your choice may be made.
