It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Jean-Guy Conrad Lafontaine, 79, who left us on December 13th, 2025 in Elliot Lake surrounded by his beloved family. Born on February 5th, 1946, in Maniwaki, Québec, Jean-Guy was known for his love of fishing, hunting, snowmachines and the great outdoors. He lived a full and hardworking life, guided by determination and strength. Jean-Guy is survived by his loving wife Lise Lafontaine, by his children, Melanie Lacelle, Lianne Lafontaine and Emilie Lafontaine (Nicholas Foucault). He is survived by his sisters, Claire Lemieux, Nicole Lafontaine and Marie-Anne Lafontaine. He was predeceased by his parents Mathias and Brigitte Lafontaine, by his sisters, Huguette Proulx (late Jean Claude Jacques), Lisette Breton (late Raynold), Colette Lafontaine and by his brothers, Ronald Lafontaine, Donald Lafontaine (Sandra Jackson) and Gerard Lafontaine (Carole). He is survived by 8 grandchildren, 1 great grandchild and numerous nieces and nephews. His sense of humor will be missed by all who knew him.
The family wishes to extend their heartfelt thanks to the compassionate staff at St. Joseph’s General Hospital for the exceptional support they provided.
A Celebration of Life will be held in the Spring. He will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by all who knew him.
