In Loving Memory of James (Jim) Raymond Ross
With profound sadness, we announce the peaceful passing of James (Jim) Raymond Ross, aged 77, on September 28, 2025 at St. Joseph’s Manor in Elliot Lake.
Born on April 6, 1948 in Toronto, Jim was a man of quiet strength, thoughtful wisdom and enduring kindness. His life was marked by generosity, integrity and a deep love for family and service.
Jim proudly served as a Warrant Officer in the Queen’s York Rangers (Reserves), earning the respect of his peers through his unwavering dedication and strong work ethic. Beyond his military service, Jim was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend. He found joy in crafting and painting World War II warships and cherished every moment spent with his loved ones.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 43 years, Laura Anne Ross, his sons Daniel (Danny) Ross and Andrew Ross, daughter-in-law Alice Ross and grandson Kingston Ross who will carry forward his legacy of love, humility and quiet perseverance.
A celebration of Jim’s life will be held at the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 561, Elliot Lake on Saturday October 18, 2025 from 1 to 5 pm. All who knew and loved him are warmly invited to attend and share their memories.
A celebration of Jim’s life will also be held at the Aurora Legion, 105 Industrial Park Way in Aurora, Ontario on Sunday November 23, 2025 from 2 to 5 pm.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to a charity of your choice in Jim’s honor.
Though he may be gone from our sight, Jim’s memory will live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate to know him.
