We mourn the sudden loss of Jaak Tirrul who passed away in his home in Fortworth, Texas on June 8, 2022.
Born on February 8th, 1955, and raised in Elliot Lake. Son to Hilja (deceased) and Lembit (deceased), brother to Anu (deceased), Rein (deceased), devoted uncle to Leena (Michael Meier), Kaja (Jesse Stewart) and Kristjan Tirrul-Jones.
Jaak graduated from Queen's University with a mechanical engineering degree and later acquired an MBA. Working internationally in the energy sector, he was highly successful, retiring early. Jaak enjoyed his days trading his stocks and seeking adventures on his motorcycle, enjoying good food and the company of his friends. Devoted uncle, friend, brother-in-law, brother, and son, he was always there for support, guidance and to share a laugh and a story. His always curious mind kept him current in politics, and science; forever interested in engineering and technological advancements.
Well-travelled, intelligent, driven, and funny; his sudden passing has left a hole in the many lives he had always been a constant figure in.
A graveside committal will be held at Woodlands Cemetery in Elliot Lake on Thursday August 11, 2022 at 1 pm. The Rev. Roberta Wilson-Garrett officiating.
