Andrews, Eugene Boyd "Tony" - It is with great sadness the family announces the passing of Eugene "Tony" Andrews , beloved husband of Lydia for 68 years on December 3, 2021 at St. Joseph's Hospital in Elliot Lake. He was born in Nova Scotia, the youngest of 11 siblings, son of Edward and Hilda. Father of Kathy, Faye (Don), Kalvin (Wendy) and Cheryl; grandfather to Tyler, Brandon, Brett (Nikki), Kristen (Roger), Brooke, Stacey (Jordon), Kory (Chantelle), Natasha (Greg) and Kyle; great grandfather to Roman, Myles, Jordon, Emerson and uncle to many nephews and nieces.
Tony, originally from Nova Scotia, was a pioneer of Elliot Lake, having come here in 1957. He was a long time employee of Rio Algom. Tony was very active in the community: serving on the first Arena Fund Committee, Recreation Committee, President of the Royal Canadian Legion and the Lion's Club. He will be terribly missed, but remembered for his kindness, hard work, love of family, commitment to helping others and love of hockey. He was a very proud veteran, having served in the Royal Canadian Navy during WWII.
A thank you to the nurses on the 3rd and 1st floor, for your caring and compassionate care during Dad's time in the hospital. A special thank you to Carol and Robert for all your support during this tough time. Finally thanks to Mr Giggie for your support and prayers.
According to his wishes, there will be no funeral and his ashes will be returned home to his beloved Nova Scotia.
The Andrews family.
