Raymond (Ray ) Hicks

Hicks, Raymond “Ray” Neil – it is with sorrow that the family announce the peaceful passing of “Ray” Raymond Hicks on February 11, 2022 at the St. Joseph’s General Hospital in Elliot Lake with family by his side at the age of 84. Pre-deceased by his loving wife Elaine Hicks, January 26, 2020, he is survived by children Kim Ducharme (Stephen) of Azilda, Sandra Lavoie (Mike) of Elliot Lake and Barry Allan of Sault Ste. Marie. Dear grandfather of Debra, Chris, Liz, Stephanie, Jason, step grandfather of Angela and Charlie and great grandfather of 12.

Also pre-deceased by his parents Ivan and Mary Redmond, he is survived by his siblings Harold Redmond (Pauline), Jerry Redmond (Rita Ann), Marlene Doyle, Margaret “Peggy” Redmond, the late Frank Redmond and Mary Beth McGuirk (Joseph) as well as numerous nephews and nieces.

Out of respect for his wishes, cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held in June of 2022 from Ste. Bernadette’s Parish in Elliot Lake. Internment will follow in Woodlands Cemetery in Elliot Lake. The service date and time will be announced at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to Elliot Lake Palliative Care Program would be appreciated. The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the St. Joseph’s Hospital 3rd floor nurses and staff and a special thank you to Cassidy. The care and respect given while Ray was in Hospice will always be remembered.

Raymond was a very important part of our family. He was always so pleasant, loved to joke around, and loved his family dearly. We had a wonderful two weeks last September with Ray and Sandra.
