Jacqueline Isobel Palm (nee Disch)
June 26, 1940 – February 8, 2022

It is with great sorrow that the family announces the passing of Jacqueline Palm on February 8, 2022. Beloved wife of George Palm, loving mother of Cynthia MacLeod (Les) and Michael Palm (Christine), grandmother of Ashley Coventry (Jordan), Danielle Palm (Marty Beckerton) and Lindsay Fisher (Travis), great grandmother of Morgan, Bella, Autumn, Hailey, Joshua and Ellie, sister of Wayne Disch (Roberta). Predeceased by her parents, Albert and Marie Disch.

Jacqueline was born in Walkerton, Ontario where she attended Sacred Heart Elementary Highschool. She joined her new husband in the small mining town of Elliot Lake in 1960. Jacqueline graduated from the RNA nursing course at St. Joseph’s General Hospital and worked at St. Joseph’s General Hospital, Dr. Cassar’s Medical Clinic, Dr. Moody and Jane Lyon Spruce Clinic. In order to spend more time with her parents and grandchildren, she changed jobs to work part-time at Canada Post.

Jacqueline was an avid skier and she and George skied at numerous ski areas across Canada, as well as Austria, including helicopter skiing in the Purcell mountains. She especially looked forward to their yearly ski trips with their three granddaughters. Jacqueline and George also enjoyed traveling to numerous places including Australia, New Zealand, China, Greece, Italy, Austria and Ireland.

Jacqueline was an incredible wife, mother, Nanny and friend, touching the lives of all who knew her.

The family would like to extend our most heartfelt thanks to the staff at St. Joseph’s Manor for their compassionate care.

The Memorial Service/Celebration of Life and internment at Woodlands Cemetery in Elliot Lake will be held in June 2022.

Donations to the Alzheimer Society Sault Ste. Marie and Algoma District or St. Joseph’s Foundation of Elliot Lake (St. Joseph’s Manor) would be greatly appreciated by the family.

My heart goes out to my brother and his family on this great loss.

My abiding memory of my sister-in-law, Jacquie is that, not only was she gracious, but she was completely without artifice. I wish that time and logistics would have been more favourable to my having spent more time with her.

There are no words, but there is much love surrounding you and your family and in the memories of your loving wife. Jackie was a woman who demonstrated graciousness, dignity, and empathy. As neighbours, we enjoyed the conversations about her family with her role as a mother, grandmother, and eventually a great grandmother. She was always proud of her brood. Our thoughts are with you during this time.
