Lorraine MacLeod

MacLeod, Lorraine Catherine – It is with heavy hearts that the family announces the peaceful passing of Lorraine MacLeod on November 23, 2021 at the St. Joseph’s General Hospital in Elliot Lake. Pre-deceased by her husband Cyril Garrett in 2001, she is survived by her children Beverly Champagne, Melanie Johnston (Stewart), Daniel MacLeod and Brian MacLeod (Pennie). Dear grandmother of Carie Champagne-Trimmer (Chris), Corey Champagne (Dominique), Brandy Grenier (Yvan), Brendan Champagne, Jasmine Savage (Derek), Conor and Austan MacLeod, Rick, Christine, and R.P. Garrett. Great grandmother to Rylan, Hunter, Skylar, Cooper, Faith, Prestyn, Donovan, Mila and Charley. Lorraine was also survived by four sisters, June, Noella, Kate and Debbie and pre-deceased by five brothers.
Originally from Cape Breton Island, Lorraine found her home and heart in Elliot Lake where she met Cyril and raised her family. She was well known for her business, Union Taxi, lovingly referred to, and requested by many customers as “Granny”.
Lorraine had a cheeky personality and could make a trucker blush with her colourful use of language. She very easily won over the hearts of those who were lucky enough to come across her path.
She loved curse words, casinos, and her community, but more than anything, her family.
She has left her mark on many hearts. She will be terribly missed, but remembered with a smile, as she brought so much joy and laughter to those around her.
Out of respect for her wishes, there will be no service.

While I often saw Lorraine at a local variety store purchasing lottery tickets, most of what I knew about her was through Dan. I am sure she will be greatly missed.
