Hubert John (Bert) Hadley

After a long battle with heart problems our dearest Hubert John Hadley passed away on October 22, 2021 at St. Joseph’s hospital.
He will be greatly missed by his loving wife of 44 years, Delia Sayson Hadley, his beloved children Eleanor, Angela, Reed, David, Karen, Jason and many grandchildren.

Bert worked with the TTC for about 30 years but his greatest joy came from spending time with family. He made sure everyone had a smile on their face. He liked to joke “pull his finger”. Always cheering for Maple Leafs, Blue Jays and Vikings with Cheetos in hand. Loved fishing, gardening and walking; especially basking in the sun. Needed to have his daily dose of tea and dessert – a big sweet tooth.

Being adventurous, he would say “let’s fill the car with gas and go.” With no destination in mind most often getting lost but always making it home.
Bert will always be in our Hearts.

A special thank you to all the staff at St Joseph’s Hospital.
A private service for family will be held on Monday October 25th, 2021 at 10:00 am

Our hearts are sad but find peace knowing that dad will no longer have pain or suffering. We are truly blessed to have had Delia to care for him all these years.
Though I cannot be there to say good-bye, deep inside I hate goodbyes anyway. Love you dad.

David Hadley

Dad would tell stories about me. As a kid I was always accident prone. Aunt Cathy would say "Dave would be lucky to live to be 10."

Once when I was about 2 at our Aunt Glenna place in Orillia, dad came down to the dock and shouted "Where is Dave?" He pushed the boats aside and saw me, eyes wide open at the bottom. He saved my life that day.

Once we were getting Fish and Chips. I climbed the bar stool and fell flat on the other side, Dad saying sarcastically, "Thats my son!"

When I was 6, dad had me join Grass Roots Track and Field. He said I would be a great distance runner someday. It was the final race of the season. The gun went off. At the first turn, I was tripped and fell. I was left behind. Dad exclaimed sadly, "Thats my son!" I looked up. I got up. I ran, I started catching them. I started passing them. One by one. I did not give up. I won that race. Dad proudly said, "Thats MY Son!" We shared that day together forever.

Thats MY Dad!

Always Love You Dad,
Dave
