Sargent, Margaret “Maggie” Beattie
The family are saddened announce the sudden passing of Margaret “Maggie” Sargent, a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother on June 15, 2021 at the St. Joseph Hospital in Elliot Lake. Pre-deceased by her husband John Sargent in 2016 and Frederick Gordon Coghlan in 1979, she is survived by her children Margaret Anne Coghlan (predeceased), Frederick Coghlan (Pauline) of England and Gordon Coghlan (Annie) of Chelmsford. Adoring grandmother of Francis (Casara), Jessica (Mario), Faye, Natalie, Benjamin as well as great grandmother of Jacob, Jayden, Cadence, Adelynn, Anna, Joseph, Emma, Kiery and Lola. Also survived by one brother, James McCusker of Glasgow Scotland. Maggie moved to Elliot Lake in 1979 and catered many functions over the years but she will be always be remembered as an amazing cook at the Elliot Lake Golf Course and Granite Club.
Due to COVID restrictions, the memorial gathering will be held at a later date and will be announced when details are made available.
I am so saddened to hear of the passing of Maggie. I have many great memories of Maggie from the golf course and the curling club or just a friendly chat if I was lucky enough to meet her in town. She was a treasure!

Maggie was always such fun, laughing and calling us all ‘Dear’, while serving up some of the best meals to grace a curling club, or other venue, anywhere. She was quite special and I’m sad to know she has left us. Slàinte, Maggie! You will be remembered.

Maggie lit up any room with her unique laugh and bubbly energy. She
was an incredible cook who helped build the reputation of the curling
club as the place to have a dinner and dance. She will be remembered
always.
